designers*
exhibition theme
about the project:
project type: student (team) project
programs used: indesign, illustrator, photoshop
deliverables: exhibition theme, build-out
fun facts: i worked on the concept and visual identity
one of the concepts for the 2024 graphic design senior exhibition was the theme DESIGNERS*. i collaborated on this theme with a dedicated team of students, particularly working closely with abby miller, brandon scruggs, and marc smith. together, we endeavored to embody DESIGNERS* and recognized that our identities as creatives goes far beyond design. we are more. i found myself refining the concept and message of DESIGNERS*, as well as designing the main visual elements, such as the color palette and posters that became the foundation for the rest of the design and team buildout.
the theme DESIGNERS* embodies the notion that our identities as creatives extend far beyond conventional labels. the asterisk serves as a symbol of our gained knowledge, boundless creativity, and multidimensional talents, representing our vast range of skills and roles, from designers to illustrators, photographers, website developers, motion artists, and more. it reminds us that our collective impact goes past traditional boundaries, sparking innovation and pushing the limits of what is possible in the creative world. DESIGNERS* celebrates our diversity and unity, as well as the endless possibilities that arise when we embrace the growing range of our creative potential as designers.
while the theme was not ultimately chosen to represent the class of 2024, we were presented with a unique opportunity to create a permanent installation and eventual brand identity for our school. this initiative ensures that the message of DESIGNERS* will endure, inspiring future students and serving as a powerful representation of our school of design.
