in creating coda, the magazine that offers the ‘final word on film,’ my intent was to encapsulate the essence of cinema within the pages and design. inspired by the cinematic experience, i opted for a 16:9 ratio for the magazine, mirroring the aspect ratio of a cinema screen. this choice serves to immerse readers in the world of film from the moment they engage with the publication. additionally, the name “coda” holds significance, denoting the concluding part of a film—a fitting metaphor for the magazine’s role in providing insightful commentary and analysis on the world of cinema. with a focus on quality content, Coda features a diverse range of high-quality film stills, original artwork, and in-depth interviews with industry professionals. from reviews of new releases to explorations of iconic classics and overlooked gems, the magazine offers a comprehensive exploration of the cinematic landscape.
in terms of design, the aesthetic of coda is characterized by boldness, modernity, and cleanliness. Through a harmonious integration of typography and imagery, each page is thoughtfully curated to captivate and engage readers. the emphasis on visual storytelling ensures that coda not only informs, but also entertains, appealing to film enthusiasts who seek both substance and style in their reading experience.
